I started as a photographer.

Fifteen years shooting commercially - Sotheby's, J.Crew, Brooklyn Museum, One Kings Lane to name a few of many. What that trained me to do was see. Not just what's in front of me, but what's missing, what's off, what could be better. Being an artist isn't a liability in business. It's the whole point. You learn to look at a problem from every angle until you find the one that works.

That skill transferred directly into nonprofit work. I have an MA in Art Administration and I've spent years working inside small cultural organizations - historical societies, arts nonprofits, libraries, trade unions - close enough to see exactly where things break down. Usually it's not a lack of passion. It's a lack of a plan.

I now consult for Historic Stonington and the James Merrill House in Connecticut, and I built Warfield Strategy to package what I know for organizations that can't afford to figure it out by trial and error.

The results are in the case studies. The Mystic & Noank Library, Kojicon, Weekapaug Inn, La Grua Center - organizations that needed a clearer strategy and got one.

I'm based in Stonington, Connecticut.
